Carissa Goudey
Historian
Carissa has 10 years of experience in the history and heritage sectors. She began her career with a special interest in museum collections, which has since extended to a love of storytelling and placemaking.
Before joining SHP, Carissa worked on significance assessments and commissioned histories for the Melbourne-based company HistoryAtWork, as well as in a freelance capacity. She has also worked as a resident historian at Sovereign Hill supporting the development of education programs, performances and public awareness of collection objects. More recently she spent four years as an assessor for Heritage Victoria, investigating the significance of buildings and objects nominated to the state heritage register.

After working on various SHP projects as a freelance historian in 2023, Carissa joined the team full time in January 2024. Her work currently involves historical research, content development and working with the team to develop concepts for placemaking and interpretation. Her key projects include The Rocks Interpretation Strategy, Point Nepean National Park Interpretation Implementation and Portland Maritime Museum.
On any Saturday
You’ll find Carissa chasing the sun with her partner and two dogs, catching up with friends for a coffee or trying to find a good bargain on eBay.

Sunny
Sunny would prefer getting his paws dirty on a site visit or installation job, but he’s been confined to the archives for chasing birds!
Snow
Snow loves nothing more than cosying up with a pile of history books for a day of research. He’s a hard worker, as long as he’s invited to team lunches!
